4JET Technologies GmbH has released a new laser scribing system for flexible solar cells.
The system's tool design is designed to enable to P1-P3 serial integration of flexible copper indium gallium diselenide cells, amorphous silicon cells and organic thin-film solar cells on polymer or metal substrates, thus allowing new approaches to the module design.
The monolithic integration allows true roll-to-roll processing and provides advantages over connecting individual small cell shingles to a module, according to 4JET. The design is based on a patent-pending foil delivery and beam delivery system that guarantees a precise standoff distance between the laser optics and foil. The tool also allows full area processing of the entire foil surface with up to 10 parallel laser beams, the company adds.
