Akrion Receives Order For Automated Batch-Immersion System

0

Akrion Inc., a supplier of solar surface preparation equipment, has received a purchase order for an automated batch-immersion system for solar cell production from a U.S.-based solar manufacturer.

Leveraging Akrion's front-end-of-the-line (FEOL) ozone process, the system will be used for advanced cleaning of the silicon surface prior to application of the subsequent layer. The system also uses Akrion's patented ICE-1 chemical concentration control for managing etch rates. The ICE system algorithm controls chemical ratios in each wafer lot, thereby assuring consistent lot-to-lot process results.

‘Akrion's patented advanced FEOL process is helping to improve solar cell efficiency by providing superior surface preparation technology for a pristine silicon surface prior to adding the next conductive layer,’ says James S. Molinaro, president and CEO of Akrion. ‘This helps our customers produce higher efficiencies and lower costs per watt.’
