Amelio Solar Appoints Donald E. Osborn President

Amelio Solar Inc., a developer of thin-film photovoltaic module technologies and related manufacturing and power generation solutions, has appointed Donald E. Osborn president and director of its photovoltaic power generation systems group.

Osborn, a 30-year veteran of the solar energy industry, will be responsible for expanding Amelio Solar's portfolio of commercial- and utility-scale photovoltaic power generation systems. The company currently has thin-film module manufacturing facilities in operation or development in China, Taiwan, Germany, Jordan and the U.S., and various photovoltaic power generation system projects in development in China, the Middle East and the U.S.

Osborn managed the photovoltaic and distributed technologies programs of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) from 1991 to 2002. Prior to joining SMUD, he was the director of the University of Arizona Solar & Energy Research Facility, associate director of the State of Arizona Solar Energy Commission and a research engineer for Helio Associates Inc. He most recently served as chief executive officer of Spectrum Energy Development Inc.
