Borrego Begins Construction Of 3.9 MW Array On Long Island

California-based Borrego Solar Systems Inc. says it is about to commence construction of a 3.9 MW solar photovoltaic system in Calverton, N.Y.

The project, located in Suffolk County on Long Island, was originally developed by local developer STR Systems NY LLC and will be financed by General Energy Solutions.

The ground-mount array will supply energy to Public Service Enterprise Group Long Island (PSEG-LI) as a result of the utility's first feed-in-tariff (FIT) program. Under the program, PSEG-LI agrees to purchase solar PV energy at a fixed rate of $0.22/kWh over the 20-year term of a power purchase agreement.

The project is Borrego Solar's second in the FIT I program under construction. The first is a 9.1 MW project for developer Sustainable Power Group in nearby Riverhead, N.Y.
