Canadian Realtors Push For Renewable Energy

Two Canadian realtors associations are advocating a new initiative to encourage renewable energy sources are made available for potential homebuyers.

A report by the CanWest News Service, the National Association of Green Agents and Brokers and the Greener Realty Association of British Columbia are planning a new program to teach Canadian real estate agents to promote green homes and encourage energy-efficient upgrades for existing residential properties.

According to the CanWest News Service report, James Rodgers, executive director for the Greener Realty Association, is practicing what he preaches. Rodgers, who runs his own realty company, personally offers home buyers $500 towards an energy audit or a site assessment that will lead to the installation of solar, wind or microhydro systems on existing properties.
