Energy company Dominion has acquired a 5 MW solar project in Somers, Conn., from Kyocera, a producer and supplier of solar photovoltaic modules and systems, for an undisclosed sum.

Dominion says Kyocera and CleanPath, a San Francisco-based clean energy company, jointly developed the Somers Solar Center, which is expected to begin commercial operation during the fourth quarter of this year. The electricity generated from the project will go to Connecticut Light & Power Co. under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

‘The Somers project joins a growing list of renewable projects that Dominion has announced or brought online this year as we maintain our focus on providing a mix of affordable, clean and reliable power,’ says David Christian, CEO of Dominion Generation.
