Suniva Supplies Modules For Redstone Energy Demo Project

Suniva Inc. says its modules have been installed at Redstone Energy's photovoltaic demonstration site near the main gates of the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala.

The 137 kW facility, which serves as a demo site and training grounds in addition to an energy production facility, is part of a larger collaborative effort by Redstone Energy and Suniva to provide PV solutions to U.S. military bases with no up-front taxpayer cost.

A key aspect of the PV demo site is the power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority. The U.S. military is currently pursuing public-private partnerships, such as the solar PPA model used widely in commercial markets. Under these partnerships, the military will purchase energy from PV project developers that build, own and operate solar systems on Department of Defense property, significantly reducing reliance on taxpayer funds.
