831 kW Silver Lakes Solar Project To Benefit From SCE’s Aggregate Net-Metering Program

A 831 kW solar plant under development by SK Solar for Silver Lakes, a planned community of more than 3,000 residences in San Bernardino County, Calif., will be the first to benefit from Southern California Edison's (SCE) new Net Energy Metering Aggregate (NEMA) program.

SK Solar will also build the project, which will feature SolarWorld 315 W Sunmodule XL 72-cell solar panels mounted on DuraTrack HZ single-axis trackers, customized with a 60-degree range of motion, from Array Technologies Inc. (ATI).

The NEMA scheme allows electricity from a solar facility on a property to offset electricity usage from multiple meters located on contiguous properties owned or leased by the customer. The electricity generated by the Silver Lakes arrays will offset electricity consumed by community amenities, such as pools, clubhouses, restaurants and sports facilities.

The solar arrays at the Silver Lakes site are expected to generate 1.8 GWh per year. The system is scheduled to be interconnected by the end of the year. Silver Lakes has entered a 20-year power purchase agreement with Pacific Power Renewables for the electricity generated by the project.

‘This revolutionary aggregate net-metering program will allow cutting-edge companies and associations, such as Silver Lakes Association, to take advantage of electricity cost savings provided by solar energy at a long-term levelized cost of electricity,’ says Ron Corio, founder and CEO of ATI.
