Etrion Corp., a Switzerland-based independent solar power producer, says the last site of its 9.3 MW Mito solar project in Japan has been connected to the grid and, following testing, will start producing revenue by the end of August.

The Mito project consists of five sites in Ibaraki Prefecture and is expected to produce approximately 10.5 GWh of electricity per year. The project is owned 87% by Etrion and 13% by Hitachi High-Technologies Corp. The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Hitachi High-Tech built the fixed-tilt, ground-mount facilities using Canadian Solar polycrystalline photovoltaic modules and Hitachi inverters. Hitachi High-Tech will also perform operations and maintenance services. Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Ltd. provided 80% of the financing for the project with an 18-year, non recourse loan.
