China Sunergy Co. Ltd. (CSUN), a specialized solar cell and module manufacturer, has agreed to supply 2.5 MW of solar modules to Stobart Group for its solar farm at the London Southend Airport.

According to CSUN, the project is expected to satisfy approximately 20% of the airport's annual electricity needs.

The array consists of over 9,500 individual solar panels and occupies 3.2 hectares of unused grassland. As such, CSUN claims the array is the largest of its kind at a U.K. airport.

‘I am pleased that our solar products were accepted by Stobart Group for its symbolic airport PV project and delighted to see that the quality of our products together with our know-how in solar industry has helped us get access to a wider customer base,’ says Tingxiu Lu, CEO of CSUN.

Lu adds that CSUN will continue to grow by diversifying its geographical portfolio, extending its mix of products and targeting downstream PV applications.
