San Francisco-based Ecoplexus Inc. has closed the financing for its 25 MW Watson Seed solar photovoltaic project in Whitakers, N.C.
The plant will incorporate approximately 150,000 Solar Frontier modules and is scheduled to achieve commercial operation by the end of the year. The project has a signed long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Dominion North Carolina Power. Once fully operational, the $45 million system will produce approximately 40 GWh of electricity per year.
In September, Ecoplexus began construction of five solar projects in North Carolina with a combined capacity of 28 MW and $42 million in value. All have PPAs with either Dominion or Duke Energy Progress.
