Seattle-based UniEnergy Technologies (UET) says its Uni.System grid-scale energy storage system is now commercially available.
The Uni.System is a modular system consisting of five 20-foot standard containers providing 500 kW of power for four hours, with power up to 600 kW and energy up to 2.2 MWh.
Gary Yang, UET president and CEO, says the battery storage component uses a new generation of vanadium electrolyte initially developed at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's Grid Storage Program. The Uni.System is fully containerized, including grid-scale integrated electrolyte tanks, field-large-scale stacks, and controls and power electronics.
Yang says the system has a temperature tolerance of -40 degrees C to 50 degrees C, making it suitable for grid support and microgrids in diverse locations and settings.
