Hanwha Q CELLS Co. Ltd. and development partner Golden Square Energy (GSE) have placed two solar photovoltaic power plants in operation near Cambridge in the U.K.
The 24.8 MW Green End project and the 20.4 MW Fenland Farm project are now connected to the grid and will run under the government's 1.4 Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROC) scheme.
GSE, a joint venture between AG Renewables and Ingenious Clean Energy, led the development of the projects. Hanwha Q CELLS, responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction, used Q CELLS Q.PRO-G3 modules and took full ownership, including operations and maintenance, of both parks.
Given the changes in the ROC scheme at the end of March, it was important to connect both projects ahead of the March 31 deadline to ensure their operation under the 1.4 ROC scheme, according to the companies.Â
The teams installed and connected approximately 172,500 solar modules for the two plants within 12 weeks. The companies expect the projects to produce around 44,000 MWh of clean electricity per year – enough to power more than 13,300 households.
