The provincial government of Ontario has extended the Retail Sales Tax (RST) exemption for residents who purchase a home that features renewable energy sources. The rebate, which was set to expire on November 27, has been extended through January 1, 2010.

The rebate covers residential purchases of solar, wind, micro hydro-electric, and geothermal energy systems. Homeowners can also receive rebates of up to $150 for home energy audits.
