In the wake of news reports stating that it is shutting down its Arizona factory, thin-film PV manufacturer Global Solar has issued a statement regarding its future plans.

The company acknowledges that it has taken ‘cost-cutting measures’ – including reducing its workforce by approximately 70% – but says it is making progress toward selling itself and finding a home for its flexible PV technology.

Jeffrey Britt, CEO of Global Solar, notes that the company has seen a ‘very strong level of investor interest so far.’ It is currently considering both acquisition offers and other strategic options.
