Now that IKEA has finished expanding a store in Stoughton, Mass., the home furnishings retailer has announced plans to increase the size of an existing solar array atop the facility's roof.

IKEA Stoughton, which opened in November 2005, has recently grown 58,575 square feet to 415,575 square feet. With a now larger roof, IKEA is building a 51,516 square-foot addition to a solar array installed more than a year ago. The new 312 kW system, to be built this fall, will consist of 1,248 panels and bring the store's total solar capacity to 902.8 kW.
