Ideal Power Converters (IPC) says that seven of its new 30 kW photovoltaic inverters have been installed and are operating at The University of Texas at Austin's (UT) new 200 kW solar system, located on the campus' maintenance facility building.
The 30 kW PV inverter weighs only 94 lbs. – significantly less than comparable inverters, according to the company. It delivers 480 V AC three-phase power and supports grounded solar arrays without an internal or external transformer.
IPC is a recent graduate of the Austin Technology Incubator and has received State of Texas Emerging Technology Funds. IPC is manufacturing its solar inverter in volume in Austin.
