LDK Solar’s China Plant Is On Schedule

LDK Solar Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of multicrystalline solar wafers, has completed site preparations and begun the construction phase of its polysilicon plant in Xinyu City, China.

With the completion of this first milestone, the LDK polysilicon plant construction is currently on schedule to reach the company's capacity goal of up to 6,000 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2008. Also, the company says its has secured an additional 312 metric tons in polysilicon supplies to be delivered next year.

"We believe that this supply contract will help LDK achieve our wafer production and growth targets for 2008," comments Nick Sarno, senior vice president of manufacturing at LDK.
