Lennar Homebuilding, a San Ramon, Calif.-based residential developer, has announced that any new community the company constructs in the San Francisco Bay area will be equipped with a roof-integrated solar electric system from PowerLight, a subsidiary of SunPower Corp.

Lennar Homebuilding's solar initiative begins with the introduction of Milano, a 77-home development in Danville, Calif. The solar-electric homes will help consumers save on their monthly utility bills, in addition to providing the buyer with a one-time $2,000 federal tax credit.
