Mage Solar, a turnkey provider of PV systems, and system integrator SALT Service Inc. have completed a 24 kW PV system with battery backup on Pigeon Key, a historical island in the Florida Keys.
Pigeon Key is located between Key West and Key Largo. Without any connection to the power grid, the island – like many off-grid locations in the Keys – was dependent on diesel generators for electricity. The fuel for these generators typically had to be transported by ferry from the mainland.
The new PV array will provide energy for the Pigeon Key Foundation and its Marine Science Center. SALT Service developed and executed the installation of the system, which includes 96 250 kW monocrystalline modules from Mage Solar.
