McCune Solar Works LLC, a McCune Works Inc. company, says it is in ‘final stages of negotiations’ to assume operations of Schott Solar's manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, N.M. The company intends to resume production in early 2013 under a new brand: Hott Solar PV.
Full production is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2013. At full production, approximately 130 employees will work at the site, with an annual payroll of more than $6.5 million, McCune Solar Works says.
In July, Germany-based Schott announced it would shut down its Albuquerque manufacturing operations due to adverse conditions in the solar manufacturing market.
