The Villa Group and the meeco Group have agreed to develop 4.76 MW of photovoltaic energy generation and storage capacity in the Maldive Islands off the east coast of Africa. The agreement boosts an existing agreement from 1.21 MW and will feature meeco's sun2live PV generation and storage system.

Under the terms of the partnership, meeco will be responsible for the design and project engineering, procurement and construction for the project while Villa will provide project management services.

The project includes five sites throughout the Maldives, of which the Maamigili airport will be the first priority. The project will support Villa's aim of reducing local dependency on diesel fuel.
