The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) says its board of directors has appointed John B. Rhodes president and CEO of the authority.

Rhodes was most recently director of the Center for Market Innovation for the Natural Resources Defense Council. Prior to that, he acted as chief operating officer of Good Energies, an investment firm. Rhodes was also a partner at Booz Allen Hamilton. He is a graduate of Princeton University and the Yale School of Management.

‘John brings a great depth of knowledge from the energy and finance industries, and his more than 25 years of experience will be invaluable as he joins NYSERDA at a crucial time,’ says NYSERDA Chairman Richard Kauffman. ‘John will be integral to the establishment of the New York Green Bank, as well as to our efforts to accelerate market forces to spur investment in clean energy that will advance new technologies, create green jobs, and ensure a resilient and reliable energy system across New York.’

Rhodes succeeds Francis J. Murray Jr., who was president and CEO since 2009.
