Photovoltech, a photovoltaic cell company owned by Total, SUEZ and Imec, has inaugurated a new production line in Belgium. Built at a cost of 30 million euros, the new line raises Photovoltech's total production capacity to 80 MW per year.

Taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the inauguration, Photovoltech also announced a further investment of 45 million euros to increase total production capacity to 140 MW per year by 2009.

‘Ambitious photovoltaic solar energy plans are critical for the planet,’ says Christophe de Margerie, CEO of Total ‘Photovoltech is one of the pillars on which we intend to build a world-class business across the entire photovoltaic solar energy chain.’
