Nexolon America has broken ground on its new manufacturing headquarters at Brooks City-Base in San Antonio. The $100 million facility will build solar panels for operations in the local area, including CPS Energy's 400 MW solar farm, and throughout North and South America.

Nexolon America is a subsidiary of Nexolon Co. Ltd., a global solar value chain manufacturer and supplier headquartered in Seoul, Korea.

The Texas facility is slated to be completed in the first half of 2014. Commercial production is scheduled to run by mid-2014 and reach full capacity in 2015, the company says. The building will encompass 240,000 square feet, and the entire plot of land Nexolon will use at Brooks City-Base includes 86 acres.

The factory is also expected to create 400 skilled jobs. Hiring is scheduled to begin for 200 positions in the first quarter of 2014 and another 200 positions in the first quarter of 2015.
