Clean Energy Direct To Install Solar Array For Colorado Recycling Center

Oxford Recycling, an Englewood, Colo.-based recycling operation specializing in concrete, asphalt and wood products, has selected Denver-based solar engineering, procurement and construction contractor Clean Energy Direct to install a 350 kW PV solar system.

‘We chose to add solar to our operation to further our goal of preserving our natural resources and environment,’ says John Kent, president of Oxford Recycling. ‘We've dedicated over an acre of our operating facility to the installation – knowing it will more than pay for itself in the years to come in both energy savings and environmental benefits."

Oxford Recycling purchased the landfill site in 1979 and says it wants to use the reclaimed land to produce re-purposed, reclaimed products. The ballasted ground-mount solar arrays respect the unique constraints of the brownfield situation and will generate about 490 GWh/year for the on-site operations, or enough electric energy to power 70 homes.
