PSEG Solar Source has invested more than $60 million to acquire from juwi Inc. a 37.8 MW DC solar power project to be located on 300 acres in Las Animas County, Colo.

The solar power facility, which will be located about 165 miles south of Denver, will be named the PSEG San Isabel Solar Energy Center. It has a 25-year power purchase agreement with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association Inc., a wholesale electricity generation and transmission provider.

juwi developed the project and will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and operator. Construction is under way, and commercial operation is expected to begin by the end of the year. The facility will use approximately 121,000 polycrystalline silicon solar panels.

This is PSEG Solar Source’s 17th utility-scale project and the second in Colorado. Its other projects are located in Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Vermont.
