S-5! Wins Patent Infringement Case

0

S-5! companies Metal Roof Innovations Ltd. and Caught Fish Enterprises LLC have prevailed in a patent infringement case filed against Contek Inc., d/b/a Snow Management Systems, which alleged infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 5,228,248 and 5,983,588. The patents cover various technologies embodied in S-5! clamps and related snow retention equipment and applications for metal roofs.

Entering judgment for the plaintiff and against Contek, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado found the patents valid, enforceable and infringed by Contek. Contek has now taken a license under the patents and is required to pay S-5! royalties on licensed products to be sold in the future.

‘We are, of course, pleased with the outcome and will continue to aggressively defend our intellectual property,’ says S-5!'s Rob Haddock. This is the fourth lawsuit in which S-5! has prevailed against infringement.
