Built with AES Distributed Energy Inc., a subsidiary of the AES Corp., the project is located in Sacramento, Calif., at the Golden 1 Center.

The 11 MW Rancho Seco Solar Power Plant is also delivering power to the new Golden 1 Center.

According to Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO of SPI Energy, the basketball center has become “the first indoor arena in the world to be fully powered by solar energy.”

Woody Rubin, president of AES Distributed Energy, added, “We are excited to be a part of this innovative project that showcases how our nation’s sports and entertainment venues can offer environmentally sustainable solutions.”
