Schools Celebrate PV Solar System Installation

0

A school campus in Gerlach, Nev., along with SCHOTT Solar, Sierra Pacific Power, Burning Man, MMA Renewable Ventures and the Washoe County School District, has celebrated the completion of a 90 kW solar power system that will generate up to 162,000 kWh of electricity annually for the next 25 years.

The SCHOTT Solar panels were installed at no charge to the school district through a combination of donated labor and materials, and project costs will be partially offset by a $450,000 rebate provided through the SolarGenerations program established by the Nevada State Legislature in 2003 to encourage Nevadans to install solar energy. The program is administered by Sierra Pacific Power.

Engineering expertise and labor for the project was provided free of charge by Black Rock Solar and Brooks Engineering. MMA Renewable Ventures provided the solar electric equipment.
