Germany-based SMA Solar Technology AG says it has installed at least 10 GW of solar inverter capacity in North America. According to the company, the milestone comes after SMA increased its installed capacity across the continent by 33% in less than a year.
In 2000, the company launched SMA America in California as the hub for North American sales and service operations, and it says that it achieved the 10 GW thanks to its broad portfolio of technical solutions, including utility-scale and residential inverters, as well as SMA’s recent growth as an operations and maintenance (O&M) supplier.
“Since we entered North America 16 years ago, we have been committed to supporting the designers, installers, developers owners and EPCs in this dynamic market,” commented SMA CEO Pierre-Pascal Urbon.
Marko Wittich, SMA’s executive vice president of sales for the Americas region, added, “PV professionals continue to choose SMA because they know we will offer not only the most reliable and high-performing inverter solutions, but because they can rely on us to be there every step of the way with the best service support as well as O&M offerings,” said. “We are proud to support this market with both the highest quality service and the most reliable product solutions, and will continue to drive our technology development based on the unique needs of the solar industry in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.”
