Solar Frontier Americas – the U.S. subsidiary of Solar Frontier, a Japan-based manufacturer of copper, indium and selenium solar modules – says two utility-scale solar projects in its development pipeline are now in the construction phase.
Located in Southern California’s Imperial County, the 67 MW Midway I project has an executed power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pacific Gas & Electric. Midway II, also located in Imperial County, is 40 MW and has a PPA with the Imperial Irrigation District.
Managing both projects is Solar Frontier Americas Development, the utility-scale project development division of Solar Frontier Americas. Blattner Energy is providing engineering, procurement and construction services; Power Electronics will supply inverters; and NEXTracker will supply its NX Horizon single-axis trackers.
“Solar Frontier’s solar projects will generate hundreds of direct jobs and employ local workers in Imperial County, Calif.,” states Ryan Kelley, Imperial County supervisor for District 4. “The projects will drive significant dollars in local sales and property taxes and contribute to the local economy.”
