SolarCity Corp. has announced the expansion of its western Pennsylvania presence with a new 18,000-square-foot operations center in Pittsburgh.
The new facility is SolarCity’s third operations center in the state – joining Norristown and Lancaster – and pushes the company’s Pennsylvania staffing to more than 350. SolarCity expects to employ more than 125 people when fully staffed at the Pittsburgh-area location.
Pennsylvania Lieutenant Gov. Mike Stack commented, “SolarCity’s continued expansion across the state is good news for Pennsylvania consumers and for the environment. By using solar energy, homeowners and businesses can save money on utility bills and reduce the production of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.”
SolarCity, which launched new service for western Pennsylvania in the spring, says it began hiring regional staff for the new Pittsburgh center earlier this year and has a range of additional open positions posted in sales, installation and related roles.
