SunEdison, Petrobras Plan 1.1 MW Solar Plant In Brazil

SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials Inc., has signed an agreement with Brazil-based integrated energy company Petrobras to build a 1.1 MW photovoltaic power plants in Alto do Rodrigues, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

Once the project is completed, SunEdison's renewable operations center will manage the ongoing operations of the plant. The energy generated will be sent to the National Interconnected System. Expected output is estimated at 1.65 GWh annually.

The construction of the plant is part of an initiative lead by Petrobras within the structure of the Research and Development Program of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency. The plant will be built with SunEdison's Silvantis photovoltaic modules and A90 solar trackers designed by SunEdison.

The project also includes the construction of a 10 kW experimental platform at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
