SunPower Corp. has acquired Greenbotics Inc., a Davis, Calif.-based provider of solar panel cleaning products and services for large-scale solar power plants. SunPower says it expects to use the robotics technology experience in developing its Oasis Power Plant product, especially in markets with challenging dirt and dust environments.
Greenbotics' CleanFleet robots and services have been deployed to wash photovoltaic systems in the southwest and western U.S. The robots can be configured for use with a variety of solar panels and mounting types, including fixed-tilt arrays and single-axis trackers.
SunPower says its acquisition of Greenbotics is a cash transaction.
