Vivint Solar, a solar power purchase agreement provider, has appointed Dan Rapp chief technology officer (CTO).
As CTO, he will oversee Vivint Solar's technology strategy and software development, including the creation and implementation of advanced data reporting and an enhanced customer interface.
Rapp previously served as vice president of the research, user experience and Web development group at FamilySearch, a genealogy organization. He joined FamilySearch in 2002 as the architect and principal engineer for search engine development.
Prior to joining FamilySearch, Rapp spent three years as a distinguished engineer at Whizbang! Labs, where he held many technical leadership roles, primarily in the areas of distributed processing and domain-specific search. He has also worked for 12 years at Novell and IBM in various management and technical leadership roles.
