Construction has begun on the 160 MW Noor 1 concentrated solar power (CSP) project, located in Morocco.

The Noor 1 solar array represents the first project for the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy in a series of several planned developments at the Noor 1 Solar Complex, which is planned to become a 500 MW solar park.

The 160 MW Noor 1 project will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer basis by ACWA Power Ouarzazate, which has recently awarded an EPC contract to a consortium composed of Spain's TSK Electronica y Electicidad, Acciona Infrastructuras, Acciona Ingenieria and Sener Ingenieria y Sistemas.

NOMAC, a subsidiary of ACWA Power, will undertake operation and maintenance services, and commercial operation of the 160 MW Noor 1 project is expected in the second half of 2015.
