Solar integrator Affordable Solar, PNM and the Albuquerque International Sunport have completed Phase III of a solar array mounted on the airport's parking structure. Affordable Solar completed and interconnected the 411 kW addition late last month. With Phase III, Sunport has now reached 1 MW in solar power capacity.
Taking advantage of the VALE (voluntary airport low emissions) Federal Aviation Agency grant, Phase III of the project added 1,750 panels to the airport's parking canopies on the top deck of the public parking garage. The additional solar panels are expected to offset approximately $30,000 in annual energy costs.
The project features 1,750 Schott Poly 235 W modules, manufactured at Schott's Albuquerque facility, a Satcon PowerGate Plus 375 kW inverter and racking equipment from Schletter.
