Alstom Invests In BrightSource Energy

Alstom, a provider of equipment and services for power generation, has entered a partnership with BrightSource Energy Inc. to enter the solar energy market. Under the partnership, Alstom is investing up to $55 million in BrightSource, with an equity stake that positions Alstom as one of the main shareholders in the company.

This operation takes place as part of a capital increase of $150 million organized by BrightSource. BrightSource specializes in designing, building and operating tower-based solar thermal power plants with operations in the U.S., Israel and Australia. The company currently has contracts for a total of 2,600 MW with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and Southern California Edison.
