Local company FireFlower Alternative Energy and partner First Highland Management and Development have announced the completion of what the companies say is the largest rooftop solar array in Boston.
Located in the Boston/Dedham Commerce Park at 65 Sprague St., the solar array covers 120,000 square feet of rooftop and has a 974 kW capacity. Electrical contractor Broadway Electrical Company Inc. completed the installation, and financing was provided by Commerce Bank.Â
First Highland's 65 Sprague St. facility is a 450,000 SF multi-use building currently home to a diverse group of tenants, including RR Donnelly, the Dancing Deer Baking Co. and the nonprofit Hyde Park Open Studios.
The solar array is net metered and interconnected to the NSTAR grid, and the project is expected to produce almost 65% of the electricity consumed in the building.
