BTU International Inc., a supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment and processes for the alternative energy and electronics manufacturing markets, has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with DuPont Packaging Graphics for the use of catalytic oxidation technology.
The technology was developed by DuPont Packaging Graphics for the abatement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and is designed to be integrated into the BTU Tritan metallization firing system.
‘Catalytic oxidation of VOCs promises to use dramatically less power than traditional thermal oxidation,’ says Jan-Paul van Maaren, vice president of marketing at BTU. ‘Not only does this impact the tool's overall cost of ownership – and, therefore, cost per watt – but it also is a more responsible way for our solar customers to manage their effluent.’
