Germany-based centrotherm photovoltaics says it has entered into a contract to deliver solar cell production equipment to China-based CECEP Solar Energy Technology (Zhenjiang) Co. Ltd.
The machinery, which includes anti-reflective coating equipment and diffusion equipment, will be delivered in 2013. Total capacity is 300 MW.
CECEP Solar Energy Technology (Zhenjiang) is a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, a state industrial group involved in sustainable energy supply in China.
The order is ‘not yet a clear sign that the PV production system market has recovered,’ notes Hans Autenrieth, a management board member at centrotherm. ‘Only a few solar cell manufacturers are currently investing in expanding their capacities, with most preferring to upgrade existing production lines. We regard this order as a bright spot on the horizon.’
