Powerway, a China-based provider of mounting structures for the solar energy industry, says it plans to invest 10 million South African rand to build six production facilities in South Africa.
At the manufacturing bases – which will be built in towns like Kimberley, De Aar and Upington – the company will produce its Powerfit, PowerScrew and PowerTracker mounting structures.
Powerway will also set up galvanizing facilities, as well as a training center for the local workforce in Kimberley. The company says it expects to supply mounting structures to over 500 MW of solar energy projects annually.
