Dynamic Energy Solutions has completed a rooftop solar array at The Simon Foundation Inc.’s Animal Rescue and Adoption Center in Bloomfield, Conn.
The Simon Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to the adoption of dogs and cats. The 207 kW rooftop system is expected to produce more than 230,000 kWh annually, which will supply approximately 80% of the facility’s annual electricity consumption.
Importantly, the system will significantly reduce the foundation’s electricity costs – specifically, close to $1 million over the project’s life.
“The installation of this new solar energy system will allow us significant savings on operational costs,” explains Lisa W. Agresti, the foundation’s executive director. “Those funds can then be used to further our mission of ‘Until there are none, adopt one.’ This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of these animals.”
In addition to financial benefits, the solar array will also reduce the foundation’s carbon footprint. The energy produced by the solar system equates to offsetting 165 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent to offsetting emissions from 402,844 miles driven by a passenger vehicle.
Project financing was managed by Connecticut-based Greenworks Lending, a provider of commercial property assessed clean energy (C-PACE) financing solutions.
