The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has finalized a $1.2 billion loan guarantee to Mojave Solar LLC for the development of the Mojave solar project. When complete, the 250 MW project, located in San Bernardino County, Calif., will increase the nation's currently installed concentrating solar power (CSP) capacity by approximately 50%, according to the DOE.
Abengoa Solar Inc., the project sponsor, estimates it will fund more than 900 construction and permanent operations jobs. The project will feature Abengoa's latest version of its Solar Collector Assembly, which is designed to increase thermal efficiency, the DOE adds.
The conditional loan guarantee was first announced in June.
