GDF Suez Energy Resources NA says it will donate renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the New England Aquarium. The gift will match 100% of the aquarium's estimated annual electricity usage. This is the fifth consecutive year the electricity provider has made the donation.

GDF Suez says each REC, certified by Green-e Energy, represents the environmental attributes or benefits associated with a specific quantity of energy generated from a renewable source, such as solar or wind.

‘We're proud of our ongoing relationship with the New England Aquarium,’ says J.D. Burrows, vice president of marketing for GDF Suez Energy Resources. ‘We share in its commitment to promote eco-friendly practices and protect Earth's natural resources, and are pleased to be a part of its environmental conservation efforts.’
