Global Solar Energy Inc., a manufacturer of copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) solar material, has appointed Dr. Urs Schoop its chief technology officer (CTO). As CTO, Schoop will leverage his expertise in the research and development (R&D) of CIGS solar cell production in order to direct the successful execution of Global Solar's technology road map.
Prior to his appointment as CTO, Schoop was the director of Global Solar's R&D department, where he helped the company improve cell efficiency, extend its long-term reliability and uncover more cost-effective deposition techniques for cell production. He also helped develop Global Solar's manufacturing facility in Tucson, Arizona.
