Home furnishings retailer IKEA has continued its large-scale U.S. solar rollout with the inauguration of two PV arrays at Philadelphia-area stores, in Conshohocken and South Philadelphia.

Coupled with a solar array atop IKEA's U.S. Service Office in Conshohocken, these new arrays bring the company's total number of completed U.S. solar energy projects to 29. Additionally, installations are under way at 10 more locations.

The three Philadelphia-area solar projects total 286,300 square feet and a generating capacity of 2.21 MW, and were built with 9,198 panels. IKEA contracted with Gehrlicher Solar America Corp., part of Gehrlicher AG, for the design and installation of the systems.
