Isofoton says it will develop one of the world's largest polysilicon factories in Spain's Andalusia region. South Korea-based HKSilicon will provide technological services and invest 600 million euros in the venture, called Silicio Energia.

Isofoton notes that the deal will allow Spain to join the small group of countries producing polysilicon, a vital raw material in the manufacture of photovoltaic
panels.

The factory's planned output is approximately 10,000 tons, and more than 1,000 jobs are expected to be created. According to Isofoton, Silicio Energia will be the fifth-largest polysilicon manufacturer in the world.
