N.Y.’s Solar Goals Bring Toronto-Based Developer To The State

Toronto-based OYA Solar, a North American turnkey solar developer, has opened a New York City office.

The new office, OYA’s first in the U.S., will allow the company to manage its growing portfolio of projects in the Eastern U.S. The move is, in part, in response to the state’s recent commitment to achieve 100% carbon-free power generation by 2040, including doubling the state’s distributed solar development to 6 GW by 2025.

“OYA is thrilled to be launching our New York office. The state’s commitment to a clean energy future makes it a fantastic place for us to expand and invest,” comments Manish Nayar, founder and CEO of OYA Solar. “The future of solar is in states like New York that are willing to set high goals and move clean energy policy into the 21st century.”

The company has 850 MW of solar under development, including 200 MW in New York. OYA is specifically developing 25 community solar projects across the state.
